FAQ

Does energy-saving lighting mean less lighting?

Absolutely not! GEI believes in energy efficiency – using less energy by getting more out of each watt. Switching to the latest energy-efficient lighting means you get higher quality lighting, resulting in truer colors, greater visibility and less eye strain.

Why should I consider a lighting upgrade?

Outdated lighting technologies may still be functional, but they are highly inefficient and produce unwanted heat and noise pollution. By opting for a lighting upgrade, you will experience immediate reduction in electricity usage, leading to major savings on your utility bills.

How can I get started?

A free lighting assessment is your first step toward energy efficiency! Simply give us a call or send us an email, and we will arrange for one of our Energy Efficiency Consultants to visit your facility to assess what lighting solutions are best for you. We will then provide a detailed proposal including proposed solutions, savings and financing options.

Are there any incentives or rebates available to help pay for my lighting project?

Most utility companies have incentive and/or rebate programs available for their commercial customers, but these programs are always changing. Give us a call, and we’d be happy to inform you of the programs available in your area and guide you through the process.

How does the rebate process work?

Each rebate program has its own list of rules and regulations, making them difficult for the average person to navigate. That’s where we come in. At GEI, we have extensive knowledge of rebate programs spanning multiple utility companies and agencies. As your contractor, we use that knowledge to calculate the value of rebates for your project and submit all rebate documents and applications on your behalf. We then deduct the amount of the rebate from the cost of installing your retrofit, and you’re on your way to a better-lit, energy-efficient future!

How much energy will I be saving? How can I be sure the project will pay for itself?

Every project is different, so the amount of energy saved can vary from project to project. Following the initial energy audit of your site, we will provide a customized report tailored to your business location with our suggested energy-saving solutions. The report will clearly state the estimated savings and return on investment for your project. These estimates are based on energy savings calculations used by manufacturers and using the current rates per kilowatt hour charged by your utility company.

Will there be any disruption to my business operation during installation?

Our experienced staff can work even in the most difficult job site scenarios with minimal disturbance to your normal business operation. We offer flexible scheduling that includes nights and weekends. GEI has installed new lighting upgrades in office buildings, car dealerships, gas stations, retail stores, hospitals, educational institutions, and industrial production facilities. We can cover it all!

This project is not in my budget ? Can it wait?

We understand how financially daunting a lighting upgrade project can seem, and that’s why we offer financing on all projects without a down-payment or any out-of-pocket expense to you. A lighting efficiency project begins to pay for itself on the day of the installation, so delaying a project means you lose out on those savings. Waiting can also cause you to miss out on time-sensitive or limited-funding rebate programs offered by your utility provider.

My business had a lighting upgrade only 5 years ago? Would another lighting upgrade be pointless?

Not at all! Lighting technologies have improved greatly in the past 5 years, so opting for another lighting upgrade now would result in further reduced energy usage and even higher-quality lighting. These improvements can increase traffic to your business and safety at your facility.
